FISHING SPOT GUIDE

Renkajärvi – rugged and impressive

Lake Renkajärvi is a fine fishing destination for traditional summer cottage fishing. In addition to pike and perch, the long and narrow Renkajärvi is also inhabited by whitefish and pike-perch. Effective cottage fishing requires a rowboat and light spinning tackle. Look for waterlilies or other aquatic vegetation near the shore. For good results, use spinners such as Mepps or Laxman, and small spoon bait. Row around slowly and cast precisely next to aquatic plants, which is where the pike and perch like to hide. Rugged water bodies like Renkajärvi are at their best in the summer months

In winter, try ice fishing for whitefish! Choose a thin line and use small jigs and mormyshka. For bait, use fly or lake fly larvae. Fish in the straits near the shore.
