Orienteering is now possible also in water areas: try paddling, rowing, stand-up paddleboarding, ice skating or perhaps kicksledding! The Suunta luontoon project aims to create a completely novel network of electronic checkpoints for canoe orienteering at the lakes of Kanta-Häme. The plan involves 13 lakes, all of which have a public beach for water access.
The planned orienteering sites will be completed by the summer of 2023, and the app is already available on Play Store and App Store under the title Järvisuunnistus (in Finnish). If you want, you can print out manual checkpoint maps from the side bar to support the use of the app, or you can browse and print out orienteering destinations on a map through the Canoe orienteering tool (in English) link below. Once the final stretch at Lake Kuivajärvi is finished, the orienteering routes will be completed.
